Ocean

Ocean tides that ebb and flow

Velvet mists that come and go

Silence broken by the cry

Scavenger patrols the sky

Sweet scent of salt-laden air

The breath of one who would dare

To be a man who loves the ocean

Wharf a hive as boats prepare

Faces of crew, hope laid bare

Be it trap or net or trawl

A way of life for one and all

Fishing vessel second home

Trusted friend with him to roam

At sea, a man who loves the ocean

Never content upon the land

He listens for her command

When she calls, he must obey

Follow his heart, come what may

Ocean mistress, sacred love

Honoured by the one above

Blessed is the man who loves the ocean

Fisherman's son he was born

To the water he is sworn

By wind and wave, moon and sky

Destiny to live and die

One with nature, spirit free

All that he is meant to be

By blood, a man who loves the ocean

On the water, yet he yearns

Loved ones tend a lamp that burns

Light keepers upon the land

Their duty to understand

They must share him with the sea

Heart and soul eternally

To love a man who loves the ocean
